Our story
Where a personal partnership became a shared purpose.
Mandala Ojochal was born from a partnership rooted in shared values of community, wellness, and conscious land stewardship. What began as a fifteen-year friendship evolved into a life partnership and, ultimately, the co-creation of a place designed to serve others.
One partner brought the structural and creative force, with a background in design, construction, and permaculture, and a vision for how a hillside property could become a thoughtfully integrated sanctuary. Every pathway, every structure, every architectural decision was made with the same quiet intention, to let the buildings rest within the landscape rather than dominate it.
The other brought depth of lived experience, including more than 25 years in wellness, mental health, and international transformational retreats, a career rooted in guiding individuals, leaders, and companies through meaningful change, and the operational intelligence to ensure that what happens inside the container is held with the same care as the container itself.
Together, their intersection — spanning regenerative design, business leadership, hospitality, wellness, and transformational work — became the foundation for Mandala. Each brings distinct strengths, and both understand that the vision only fully emerges through the integration of the whole. Mandala reflects this balance: structure and flow, strategy and intuition, land and experience.

Mandala was designed from the ground up with a single purpose: to create a space where ease, flow, and connection to nature are available at every turn. Intentionality is felt as one moves through the property — from a morning yoga class in an open-air bamboo shala, to a nourishing meal in the dining hall, to an afternoon dip in the pool with views of the lush mountain and jungle canopy above, to gathering around the fire as the evening settles in.
Buildings are oriented to capture cross-breezes, shade, and natural light. Pathways follow the contours of the land. From our soaring bamboo shalas and private pool villas to our organic farm-to-table kitchen and devoted local team, every space and system on our 14-acre property exists to support that ease — so that guests arrive more fully with each passing day.
Mandala is not a curated version of nature. It is nature — restored, thriving, and intentionally left to breathe. Once used for cattle farming, the land has been reclaimed through regenerative stewardship into a living ecosystem. Fruit trees, vegetables, and herbs grow where cattle once grazed. A year-round stream runs through a protected wildlife corridor, allowing monkeys, toucans, and countless species to move freely across the property.
From the hillside you can hear the distant crash of Pacific waves. By day the canopy fills with the calls of tropical birds and the rustle of wildlife moving through the trees. By night, fireflies drift through the darkness, frogs and toads weave their rhythmic chorus, and a blanket of stars opens overhead — the kind of sky that quietly reorients you. The luxury here is not distance from nature — it is full immersion within it.
